After a few years of life sharing through (micro)blogs we crossed a border. More and more smart phone users, cheaper mobile Internet and continuous connectivity via Facebook, Hyves (in the Netherlands), LinkedIn and so on created a new social/media invironment. Now these things come together…FAST.
I will kick off with Life/live sharing via your mobile. Take Qik as example. This new mobile service enables you to broadcast live with your video function on your phone to the Internet. You can let your social network, for example your Twitter friends, know that you are broadcasting and invite them to join the show. It is one of the examples that illustrate the great power of mashing up mobility and social behaviour.
But there is more! When I travel to, for instance, Amsterdam by train I always hear the standard phone conversations about “where are you?”. Take a look at the Location tool of Google (not very accurate, but gives a good impression of where you are at a certain moment) or GPS (accurate!!), combined with social interaction. If you share such information with your friends you know where they are (although you can switch the Google Locator function off whenever you want).
Your blog, or main social network is the centre of all this. The rest will all interact with your Facebook of Start4all account or made visible in Widgets.
Life/Live sharing is here to stay. We want to archive that special moment on mobile video and share it with our friends. GPS and easy text editors create an environment to add extra information with as less as possible effort. Video makes it possible to give your audience an ‘eye’ at the location where you are at that specific moment, that is a great evolution for lifesharing and will change our lives through the next few years dramatically.
I’ve mentioned some services: Twitter, Qik, Facebook, Hyves, GPS, Smart Phones, Google’s Locator tool and Start4all. Of course there are many more. Please feel free to suggest our readers some more tools and services that enable you share your life through your mobile phone to your friends within a social network.
I’ll kick off by sharing: Shozu (transfer a photo to your Flickr account)
Joe Pine II told us interesting stuff last monday at MoMo Amsterdam. Punk Media taped the video and shared it with the world on Youtube. Below the video’s, be inspired!
